The Early Assessment Program (EAP) oversees the California Assessments of Student Performance (CAASPP) which lets students know if they are ready for college level English and Math classes in the California State Universities. This test is given in California high schools during a student’s junior year. The program also oversees other measures that can place students to be college-ready.
We received funding that allowed us to produce merchandise with the intent of being given away. The coordinators were looking to spark interest in prospective students towards the California State University system.

Process
The Senior Coordinator for EAP wanted merchandise items that can excite prospective students about considering a California State University, so they can follow by thinking about being college-ready through the CAASPP. The merchandise lines centered around the twenty-three CSU campuses and being “College Ready.”
One of the challenges was how to incorporate twenty-three campuses into the design, as well as how to include the idea of being college-ready, which is EAP’s objective. Another obstacle for t-shirts and the tote bags was having a one-color limitation. We also had to keep in mind that this centered more around the entire CSU system versus Cal Poly Pomona.

Outcome
Along with the project coordinators we were able to bring the line into production. 1,100 tote bags, 600 t-shirts, and 1100 pins were produced. All these items will be given away and work to spark interest onto prospective students. This project also gave me further experience for working with a client and being able to take feedback and apply it.
