Alexa Skill
This Alexa Skill offers a hassle-free process in which Alexa becomes a pet caretaker when the user is not home or is unavailable. This Alexa Skill offers features such as facial recognition, online shopping, viewable live video feed, advanced location services, and more. The user can use the facial recognition feature when first registering the pet.
In addition, the online shopping feature can be activated when Alexa detects that the user’s pet is running low on food. The user is able to view and track the pet’s location at all times with advanced location services and with viewable live video feed.

Additional Features
Only one script was developed fully to include all screens, but as a team we developed 3 additional screens to show interesting features we imagined the skill to possess. The is an error screen that the user could see when Alexa cannot do what they ask her to do. A facial recognition screen to visualize how a user will set up their pet’s profile when first using the skill. Lastly, a shopping screen where the user can shop for pet food hands-free.

We developed the VUI through scripts of different scenarios where the user interacts with Alexa. We tried to imagine various scenarios, along with times where things don’t go right. For these type of moments we didn’t want to abruptly end the conversation, instead Alexa offers alternatives. To give Alexa a personality we included pet related puns throughout her interactions to lighten the mood
